Week 5 I think

for 5 way lenticle printing

when viewed from five different angles 5 different images
shall be shown
90 degree angle and a 45

Hairline where does Marias stop and mine begin?

mark making with cardboard

prespective illusion. When veiwed from a certain
angle the piece looks normal. As demonstrated by the
mirror
me trying to figure out the ratio of distance and height

This then is then is two hexaflexagons put together into a ring.

Then i started working with the the idea of making a form of hexaflexagon but using cubes. This was the result although not the aim still pretty cool.

This way of taping was more successful.

Bert Simons Paper Sculptures

Bert Simons has done what i was aiming to do. It is amazing. In tribute to him and also to learn from his technique i decided to make him. Thankfully he has provided a template to print offhttp://www.bertsimons.nl/files/bouwplaat.pdf . Learned a lot from following this.
i unfortunetly made the piece into to pieces and i had aimed to join them together in the end which proved quite difficult. Make sure if your trying this to make it all as on piece the whole way through. I would recommend starting from the bottom up. I will try to stick the piece more together.

I wound up with 11 sheets of paper

I actually heard it say "KILL MEEE"

Lenticular printing

So what i have been essentially doing is known as  Lenticular printing. Here is a video of a piece i made last Monday  The positioning of the skull and face is a bit off.  If i was to do it again i would align the eyes and the nose.

THORSDAY. Love Thursdays. Productivity went up. Realized that i could make an images appear on the cardboard when viewed only from a certain angle.

Next step is cutting up photos and sticking then on the grooves.
And working with 3D objects and drawing on the ridges
I hope to also make ridges that allow for 4 images to be hidden on a piece.

Back to play school.

The rest of this most enjoyable week was spent making things that seemed to have little correlation to the project.
Tuesday and Wednesday was like play-school.
We made cup phones and instruments using cups. It was very interesting and fun. There is definitely some potential in the experiments we did what that is has yet to be revealed to me.

Felt i had been quite unproductive. So i decided to build the following on a larger scale.

I went and got cardboard from the supply place. This cardboard was not suited to the task however i did find its grooves interesting
I was in a strange adjitated state.  I made the following weird mask.
The illusion of the self and how some hide their true feelings came to mind.

I began to play around with the groves and the idea came to me that flattening the grooves would create impressions. All we ever do is make impressions on people.

Delighted i ended up with this grooved cardboard by accident as it was a lot more fun to play with.
This is a photo of the inside of the card rolled onto itself.

The common cold was taking its toll. I drew And drew Andrew. Designs today were kinda celtic.

When folded together

I plan to actually start construction of my 3rd attempt of a human head this time it shall be made up of many parts.
We had a talk on symbols and a ham sandwich and how it wasn't a ham sandwich but it was a photo of a ham sandwich after the talk i bought a sandwich it was hard to eat. That is very important information and you shall be expected to hold on to that till you die. Did a lot of research in the library today on astrology and on symbolism.  Got an amazing book called "Art and symbolism of the occult images of power and wisdom" by James Wasserman.

I also returned the following books "sacred geometry" "the golden age of irish art" Lucifer's legacy" "art forms in nature" "Sun and moon signs" and "complete oragami"

Lucifer's Legacy was rather boring to me and not exactly what i was looking for let it be known that i only have read 2 chapters of it before giving up on it might still be a good book that is if you want to learn about asymmetry.
