5 way perception part 3

I came back to 5 way perception.

Each colour represents an area that an image could be placed. I was thinking about making a light shade with it.
Spining it is very entertaining and reminds me of a disco ball.

Mechanical stars

so i started off experimenting with joints and paper

the various types of hinges i experimented with. That being Rope , wire, toothpicks and angel pins.

Made a smaller version of the "expanding circle"

The star is made up of "L" shaped parts. This star was made out of thick paper and thumb tacks that were the joints.
The paper was to week to pick and and would crumble under the weight hence why the star is on the ground.

decided to remake the star out of *insert material here as im not sure what it was called it was great tho*
might make a cool scrunchy thing if i scaled it down.

Decided to try to make it with two sides. Thought about it and felt two bomerang shapes stuck together would be how to go about it.

*Closed
Although not what i was aiming for it still turned out cool. I made this one out of corrigated card stuck together.
Not the best matterial to make it out of but it was fast. It was good to check would it work.
 *Opened

So i was playing around with parts to one of the stars that weren't suitatble. I strung a rope through the center of them. I noticed that the rope acted as a hinge.

I took it further by placing it inside the transforming star.
and then took it even further by doubling up the thing in the middle.

Felt making

Tennis ball wraped in felt. In retrospective i could have added more felt and have been less delicate with it.

laying down the first layer of felt

after the various colours have been layed down
water is then sprinked over the felt and the felt is patted down

then its wrapped up . The water is rolled out of it
the end result is the felt is mashed together although the felt itself is still damp. After it was dried in the drier i was left with this horrible thing.

the tennis ball felt wound up with a handle. A happy little accident
The bacon looking thing was another attempt at felting. It was wrapped around a tube. Once again i could have put a ton more felt onto it.
Will update this post with the photos of the bacon tube finnished. Which one can slightly see on the panda mask above.

geometry and lollipop sticks

looking at making celtic patterns

an i dea came to me to use the celtic pattern to make a circle

playing with lollipop sticks by placing them on top of each other and changing the angle at which it face ever so slightly each time.

to twists going different directions put together

square

hexagon
Where am i going next? Well i have been inspired by the Hoberman sphere and want to learn the secrets to it

Also more interesting I found the following

geometric experiments investigation

doodling in an organic but geometric pattern

changing the shapes that are connected to each other

connecting up 12 points to each other entirly and hi-lighting the triangles that appear.

impossible triangle star
